Background:
Forrest comes from a version of Earth where individuals are known to be born with different superhuman abilities on an uncommon basis. There's an international acceptance and celebration of superheroes that are called upon to enforce the law upon powered individuals who may seek to abuse their abilities as well as in other more extreme situations. Forrest, herself, is not a powered individual, and they haven't particularly played a big part in her life.
Coming from the late 1950s in Chicago, Forrest is the daughter of a high-ranking Mafioso. As a young woman, she's expected to marry in such a way that benefits the family as well as play certain role in supporting their ongoing business. At the same time, she was sheltered from the worst of it, the bigger responsibilities and expectations placed upon her older brother. From a very young age, she was groomed to be the wife of a man nearly 20 years her senior as a means to create a union between two prominent mafia families.
Married at the tender age of 16 under the consent of her parents, Forrest was able to find a small amount of freedom for herself by convincing her father to allow her to go to university. It was an unusual and controversial decision, but indicative of how loved she was by her powerful father. It was there that she met and fell in love with a classmate, becoming pregnant at the age of 18. Her husband discovered the affair before she found out about the pregnancy, and by the time she was aware of her impending motherhood, her boyfriend had been murdered. Despite it being staged as an accident, there was no doubt in her mind what had really happened, and her husband wasn't shy with the hints he dropped, either.
Determined not to let her child be raised by the murderer of his real father, Forrest shot her husband dead. She used her knowledge of the family to stage it as if it were any other hit. From that point on, her brother was the one she leaned on most during the rest of her pregnancy. It was her hope, ultimately, to run away from the life altogether. She began plotting how she'd flee with her baby, but would never get the chance to so much as hold him. The strain on her body was too great, and although she gave birth to a healthy baby boy, Forrest would die to the sound of his first cries.

Having been raised in a criminal lifestyle, Forrest is incredibly pragmatic. There's always been a strangeness, having a loving set of parents, a huge extended family, doting older brother, but knowing what was being done just out of sight. Being steered out of the room before a man is executed, sneaking out of bed to see money being counted, guns on the table. She has a streak of headstrong fearlessness but the quick-witted sharpness necessary to know when she should duck her head and act demure. Forrest is calculating in a harmless way, using her tenacity and determination to try and piece together a better, cleaner life. Well, mostly harmless. Sometimes you have to get your hands dirty so you can wash them off.

- The ability to live a peaceful life.
- The promise of having and raising a happy family.
- The desire to start all over.
